What a dev trait is in College Football 27

Every player in CFB27 has a development trait. Normal, Impact, Star or Elite. It decides how fast he grows and how high he can go. A Normal guy tops out around 78 overall. An Elite guy can hit 99. Two recruits with the same overall on signing day can end up 20 points apart by senior year because of this one hidden trait.

Why star rating is the whole game

You can't see a recruit's dev trait before you sign him. What you can see is his star rating, and that's what drives the odds. Roughly 1 in 12 five stars come in Elite and almost half come in Star. Four stars drop to about 1 in 50 for Elite. Three stars basically never come in Elite and more than half are Normal. That gap is why the five star chase is worth the hours.

How to use this

Pick the position, then the archetype, then the star rating. You get the overall range he'll sign at, the odds of each dev trait, the ceiling for each one, and the ratings worth scouting for that archetype. Use the scouting attributes to figure out if a kid is the real thing before you spend a visit on him.

Does position change the odds

No. The odds and the overall range come from the star rating. Position and archetype change which ratings matter and what to look for when you scout.
